The Lord Whom You Seek

Malachi 3:1

ESV
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

Reflection

In this passage, God is talking to His people, the Hebrew, after the exile. Their zeal is weakened, and they don’t follow God’s precepts with understanding, just religiously. In the book, God talk with them, exposing their complaints, and answer their questions.

In this verses, God promise sending a messenger to prepare the way before Him. The, God promise coming in person (”and the Lord, who you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple”). We believe this passage talks clearly about John, the Baptist, coming to prepare the way, and Jesus, God in person, coming to the temple as the Jews wanted, but they didn’t accept him.

Application

He will judge every evil deeds, with justice, and He comes suddenly, in a time we don’t know, being it personally or in that Day. May God help us to don’t act religiously, nor reject His precepts, but to follow them with love, and with all our understanding. May God bless you!
